It’s Day Five of the BWA Reindeer Games and time to trim the tree.
“O Tannenbaum” is based on a traditional German folksong about the evergreen fir tree. The original lyrics don’t mention Christmas at all. In fact, the tree itself didn’t join the holiday festivities until the 19th Century when Prince Albert brought one home from Germany for Queen Victoria.
Q: In which country did the tradition of the Christmas tree begin?
Hint: It wasn’t England.
